"Beedle the Bard" announcement transcripts

Meann has completed two transcripts, one of the BBC Radio broadcast, and one of the BBC's video of Jo's announcement. Both reports were by Razia Iqbal, but were edited differently. There is a bit of new information:

  • "The Tales of Beedle the Bard" consists of 5 stories set in JKR's Wizarding world, continuing the same themes in a different time period.
  • Only 7 copies exist; the book will never be published.
  • Jo thinks what she publishes next will be a "half-finished book for children."
Thanks Meann!

in 2006 she has too a "half-finished book" for children, so i suppose it is definetly finished and ready for publish when Bloomsbury wants. Her editor in the publisher had already readit (acording to Jo, I don't remember in which interview) and she has said in the past that she doesn't show nothing until is finished.

So...

JKR May not use Bloomsbury again, although they would be idiots not to make an offer to publish it.
I would say that quite a few other publishing houses would be interested, particularly the ones who turned HP down

If she is half done, and it is a less substantial book than any of the HP books, we may see it next year

from sothebys: "The souvenir catalogue will not print the texts of the wizarding fairy-tales. Further details about the catalogue are available on the Sotheby’s www site: www.sothebys.com" (via email)

*glup* :(

Sorry, but wasn't it 'my husband the doctor' not 'my husband and daughter' in the TV report?

Hombre, I never expected it would reprint the texts. The catalog is just as close as we're likely to get to it, so it would be cool to look at.

For what its worth, "Beedle" is part of a long tradition of special gifts that artists and authors make for their friends. I have many such "specials" that were given to my parents by their artist friends. These lovely "thank you" gifts usually don't get this much publicity, that's all.

Isn't a "beadle" a lowly clerical assistant?
